The second chakra, called Sacral chakra, is associated with the colour orange and is located at the lower belly and inner pelvis. The symbol of the sacral chakra is orange with six petals surrounding the centre. The circles in connection with the lotus flower petals represent the cycles of birth, death, and rebirth. The tangential circles also create a crescent moon shape, which reminds us of the connection between creativity and the phases of the moon. The colours and the symbols associated with the different energy centres are reflective of the vibration of the chakras. When the ancient rishis meditated on the energy of the chakras, these were the colours and symbols that arose in their mind’s eye.

This chakra is associated with sensuality and creativity. The primary function of this energy centre is pleasure and overall enjoyment of life. When this chakra is balanced and functioning properly, we can expect our relationship with ourselves and the world to feel harmonious, pleasure-ful, and nurturing.

The sacral chakra is associated with the element of water,. The water element is all about flow, flexibility and freedom of expression when it comes to emotions and sensuality. This energy centre, when balanced, offers direct access to flow, flexibility, and fun.

In working with this chakra, you will address your relationship with both others and yourself. Signs of blocked sacral chakra energy

Blocked energy in the chakras can manifest in our emotional, spiritual, and even physical bodies. Physical symptoms of blocked chakras many times occur in the area of the blocked energy centre. When the sacral chakra is out of alignment, you may experience,

1. Practice yoga postures that target the sacral area. Some of these poses include happy baby, goddess, and malasana. Or Do some hip-opening stretches or yoga postures.

If a chakra feels blocked, it usually means that stagnant energy is trapped there. So if you feel a block in the sacral, try to get moving with an emphasis on the hips and lower abs. hip-opening stretches, free-flowing dance, and the following butterfly pose (baddha konasana) can help you do so:

Begin in a seated position with the soles of the feet together.
Clasp your hands around your feet and gently bring your chest forward until you feel a slight stretch in your back.
Hold the position, inhale, and hold your breath for 30 seconds.
Exhale and repeat three times.

2. Take a soothing bath with essential oils.
3. Tap into your creative side.
4. Practice using affirmations.

When the sacral chakra is in healthy alignment, you will be able to source energy for creativity, movement, procreation, desire, pleasure, and relationships. You will be able to freely express your wants and needs in relationships, and pleasure will be a priority. Creativity and visualization will become easy for you to tap into when your sacral is aligned.

5. Go for foods that nourish the sacral chakra.
Speaking of orange, certain foods are thought to nourish certain chakras. And you guessed it—orange foods are the go-to for the sacral. "Choosing foods that are in alignment with the sacral is an easy way to help both your physical body and your energetic body balance the second chakra," you can eat the foods like

nuts and seeds
sweet potato
carrots
melons
mangos
pumpkin
orange citrus fruits
butternut squash
fermented foods
hydrate with pure, filtered water infused with orange fruits (clementine, oranges, tangerines, golden raspberries, etc.)

6. Do a chakra-balancing meditation.
Chakra-balancing meditations can help you get quiet and tune into the energy centre that needs work. Holding a carnelian gemstone as you complete a meditative visualization picturing cutting the cord to whatever is blocking your sacral chakra: "Hold [the crystal] in your hands, close your eyes, and take three deep breaths. command this crystal to hold the intention of balancing your sacral chakra.' Lie comfortably on your back, and lay the crystal over your chakra for 11 minutes. 7. Get comfortable with stillness.

Getting comfortable with stillness allows us to connect to our emotions and process them in a healthier way. Make a practice out of sitting still in a cross-legged pose for a few minutes every morning, just noticing the smells, feelings, and sensations of the present. Add another minute or so to your sit each week.

8. Get your feelings out on paper.
Lastly, journaling can help us connect to our emotions too. Take a pen to paper and consider questions such as:

Am I stimulating or fuelling my creative passions?
Am I happy with my sex life?
What am I currently creating or giving to the world?
What would feeling empowered in my creativity and sexuality look like?

9. Work with the colour orange.
Each of the seven chakras is associated with a different colour. The sacral chakra is orange, so it's a good idea to use this shade when doing any sacral chakra work.
